Indigo Champaran Exhibition

Ms Khanna was invited by NIFT and the Ministry of Textiles to curate an exhibition as an ode to celebrate 100 years of Champaran movement that was helmed by Mahatma Gandhi to free India of the British annexation.

The Indigo Champaran exhibition presented the Indigo plantation /dyeing/textile and printing techniques that were prevalent in India during that time. It also highlighted the plight of the farmers and how MR mOHAn das Karamchand Gandhi first got the title of 'bapu' for winning the case for these farmers in the internation court of law for human rights.

Style of India

Style of India: the concept of this book was to bring a seamless narrative through a visual essay for everyone to understand why India dresses the way it does. The book captures the entire length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent to uniquely tie together what is in fact an extremely diverse culture - India.

While we lack patience for a deep read, the visual essay was Ms Khanna's way to narrating the idea through impactful and well curated imagery. Supported with authentic in depth research, the book aims to give a crash course in Indian style in a heartbeat.

This spectacular volume immerses an impressive breadth of history, offering a panoramic view of the defining moments - the craft of fashion, historical concepts and emotional concepts - that have inspired and influenced the evolution of the country's style through the centuries, developing over millennia, bringing together the country's many diverse histories and narratives. It is a visual masterpiece - the most exhaustive work on Indian style ever produced. Inspired by this artistic heritage, the artwork follows visualising storytelling that reveals the many layers of Indian character and its rich diverse creative expressions from its birth in the Rig Veda to the first decade of the twenty-first century.

The book has three sections - the history, emergence of the Indian fashion designer and the impact of Bollywood on Indian dressing. A lavish, hardcover deluxe production, Style of India is a celebration of India that is resonated by style connoisseurs and admirers for years to come.
